The Square Restaurant London

April 11, 2019 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

The Square Restaurant London   After 21 years of serving high-quality cuisine and earning two Michelin stars for 15 consecutive years, The Square is considered a marvel in the Mayfair restaurant landscape. It all started with Phillip Howards, co-owner of the popular Notting Hill, The Ledbury and Kitchen W8 in Kensington, and the humble idea to merge seasonal produce with modern French cooking techniques. The Square is no stranger to the tides of change, and recently re-opened under the umbrella of MARC, a restaurant group which includes the two Michelin star The Greenhouse, Umu and the Private Members’ Club, Morton’s. The Square has always been a sleek temple of gastronomy and since the launch of its new concept it has only become chicer with its modern minimalism akin to gorgeous art galleries. The minimalistic architecture makes the room feel lofty and spacious. The Square restaurant London juxtaposes urban and contemporary design with a luxurious and opulent aesthetic. This style of art is reflected in its large-scale contemporary paintings adorning the walls which offer that modern touch against the antique statues and plush leather banquette seating. The dark hues of the walls are in stark contrast to the pristine white tableclothes evoking a haunting contrast between light and dark. Art is celebrated in the restaurant design and also in the cuisine – which aims to evoke surprise and delight from guests. The minimalistic design is in keeping with the clean and stylish food preparation and presentation, curtesy of Head Chef, Clement Leroy. His style is a culmination of his experiences as Executive Chef at the famed Auberge du Jeu de Paume in Chantilly, as well as the three Michelin-starred Guy Savoy in Paris. The menus are divided into set lunch, starter menu, tasting menu, main & desserts, wine and cocktail lists. The main menu is short but perfectly formed. The signature dishes celebrate food as art, and guests are implored to try the hand-picked Devon crab. This masterpiece is made with beetroot, iced coral and cardamom. Another dish that is of a praise-worthy standard is the lightly seared Orkney scallop marsala signature dish. It comes with a light garnish of hazelnut and green coffee bean. The John dory with celery, sea urchin and lychee is yet another outstanding signature dish which typifies the artistic flair with which all dishes are prepared. Attentive sommeliers are always on hand to help guests work through their list of over 2,500 internationally sourced wines that guests can choose from and pair with their delicious meals. There is also a vast array of beer and ciders; and premium vodka, gins and scotches among other spirits to enjoy. Champagnes pepper the drinks list, as well as delicious champagne cocktails. From Bellinis blended with White Beach Puree to classic Aperol Spritz. Classic vodka, rum and gin cocktails are also simply divine. For guests in need of a nightcap, their espresso martinis made with premium Grey Goose Vodka and shaken with creamy Kahlua and finished with a double espresso is the perfect remedy. The Square restaurant London does private dining with the same level of flair as the rest of the restaurant. Striking artwork by Oscar Murillo and David Altmejd sets an elegant yet relaxed tone. The space is versatile and can be transformed to be an intimate space for business lunches as well as an elaborate room for hosted private parties. The room can accommodate up to 18 guests and offers a set menu with items focusing on high-quality, seasonal and modern food. The Square restaurant London effortlessly blends into the art galleries that surround its illustrious location. Its refined yet inspiring interior, elegant ambience and artful food, showcase why it has been an institutional dining destination for over 20 years and why its future looks brighter than ever! The Greenhouse Restaurant London

April 3, 2019 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

The Greenhouse

The Greenhouse in Mayfair welcomes its guests through a landscaped garden decorated with lines of trees, water features and stone artworks by the British sculptor Emily Young. The garden separating The Greenhouse from the residential streets outside evokes a serene environment for guests, which is also carried through into the well-styled and minimalistic interior. The restaurant is spacious and naturally lit with views of the garden outside. The interior is designed with a calm green colour palette, as well as natural materials including its slate, marble and wood finishes. A subtle connection between the garden and restaurant is also seen in the miniature sculptures, similar to those in the garden, on each of the tables. At The Greenhouse, guests enter into a hidden oasis where the serene and tranquil power of nature is intertwined into every guests’ dining experience through the simple yet sophisticated environment, interiors and cuisine.

The Greenhouse opened in 1977, and is a two Michelin star awarded restaurant offering classic French cuisine. In 2003, The Greenhouse was bought by the Marlon Abela group MARC, which also owns Umu and the Square. Since then, The Greenhouse has held on to its two stars in the 2018 UK Michelin Guide, as well as experienced international acclaim for being one of only four restaurants in the world to win the Wine Spectator Award, which is the highest award given for exceptional quality in a wine list. The Greenhouse’s gastronomic success is also encapsulated in its latest chef, Alex Dilling, that recently joined in 2018 from the Connaught, where he was the hotel executive chef. Prior to that, his culinary experience included being the Chef de Cuisine at the Caviar Russe in New York. The Greenhouse is an iconic restaurant in London that guests can count on to deliver one of London’s finest dining experiences. For further luxury, The Greenhouse also offers a Private Dining Room designed by Virgile & Stone and is available for up to twelve people. The room is centred around an intimate circular table, and encompasses a beautiful view of the restaurant as well as curtains that can be drawn to create a more intimate dining experience.

Dilling’s culinary approach involves sourcing the best and freshest ingredients, combining unique and innovative flavours influenced by French and European cuisine, and presenting them immaculately. Curated by Dilling, the seasonal menus change regularly to showcase the finest and freshest ingredients of the season. Guests can choose from a tasting menu, an A La Carte, and a set lunch menu. The tasting menu comprises six courses at £155 per person and is a masterpiece of the chef’s signature dishes. It balances the light and delicate flavours from its caviar, oyster and sweetbread courses, with the rich and luxurious textures in its Duck and A5 Gunma wagyu beef. To top it off, guests can indulge in a Rhubarb or Santarem chocolate made with Buckwheat and whisky. On the A La Carte menu we recommend starting with the lux Duck foie gras, marinated in Cevennes onion, lemongrass, champignon de Paris and lemon thyme. For mains, The Greenhouse’s meat dishes are spectacular with the Venison made with Juniper, Tokyo turnip, and smoked bone marrow jus as one of the highlights. Guests can also sample the finest artisan cheeses, sourced from small farm produces in France, as well as select the perfect wine pairings from their extensive wine list of over 3,400 labels.

Integral to the success of The Greenhouse is the highly professional attitude of its staff, combined with its classic French cuisine, and elegant and peaceful setting. It remains the bastion of fine dining, offering guests the perfect escape to indulge in the very best in food and wine.

Coya Mayfair Restaurant London

March 29, 2019 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

Coya

Coya Mayfair transports guests to the colourful streets and restaurants of Peru through its ornately patterned interiors and cuisine made with Peruvian flavours. Arjun Waney’s success with Zuma, a high-end Japanese restaurant, prompted him to open the first Coya in a listed Georgian building in the beautiful Hyde Park area. Since then, Coya Mayfair has experienced significant success and received the award for the best Mayfair restaurant in 2016 from the TimeOut Love London Awards. The success of the Coya brand has only grown to include sister sites in Angel Court, as well as internationally in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Coya’s ethos was cultivated from experiences whilst travelling Peru. At each site guests will have a glimpse into the vibrant atmosphere and generosity that permeates the Peruvian culture.

Coya Mayfair is divided into a members’ club, a main restaurant and a Pisco Lounge & Bar. The main downstairs dining area as well as the adjacent bar are open to the public. Both spaces are inspired by Peruvian design with their jewel-tones, colourful and foliage furnishings and bright murals on the walls. The colourful interiors are elegantly paired down with contemporary art, dim lighting and metallic finishes. The Pisco Bar & Lounge is inspired by the oldest bars in Lima, and this is reflected in its celebration of everything Pisco. A great Pisco Sour perfectly balances liquor, citrus, bitters and sweetness. Coya is a master at this, but also takes it one step further by infusing their piscos with unexpected flavours. Guests can select a variety of flavoured Piscos ranging from blueberry and lavender, peach and apricot to lemongrass and cucumber. If bespoke Pisco cocktails are not something you wish to try, Coya also has over 40 premium and rare tequilas, champagne and rums to choose from. Music is a vital component to the dynamic and relaxed atmosphere at Coya. At the Pisco Lounge guests can expect to be drinking innovatively crafted cocktails whilst listening to resident DJs playing smooth electronic music with Latin influences.

Head chef, Sanjay Dwivedi is an impressive addition to the Coya Mayfair team with his culinary background as a chef at the Michelin-starred Zaika, The Ivy and Le Caprice restaurants. During Dwivedi’s travels to South America, he learned about the passionate food culture in Peru. He has used this experience to curate a truly unique menu that fuses Peruvian flavours and dishes with international cooking techniques inspired by Spanish, Japanese and Chinese culture. The result is a vibrant fusion of international flavours and ingredients that would surprise and delight even the most experienced connoisseurs. Coya seasonally updates its menu, however, guests will always find traditional ceviche, sharing plates and meat and fish dishes cooked over their charcoal grill. Guests can start off with an appetiser of crispy tiger prawns and aji rocoto, as well as small plates of Cerdo Bao made with pulled pork, chipotle and salsa criolla. For mains we recommend a traditional Peruvian sashimi dish. One our favourites is the silky slices of kingfish, dashi, truffle oil and chives. A classic Ceviche dish is also an exceptional choice with one of the standouts being the Salmon Nikkei comprised of fresh salmon, celery juice, ginger, daikon and wasabi tobiko. For guests that would prefer a meat-based dish, Coya has a broad selection with one of the best being the Solomillo de Res; a deeply smoked and lightly spiced beef fillet topped with crispy shallots rocoto chilli. At Coya, their selection of side dishes are the perfect complement to any main meal. Select a side dish of Japanese aubergines, miso and sesame to add another layer of decadence to your meal.

Coya successfully brings the spirit of Peru to London through its hosted cultural events that coincide with the equinoxes and solstices worldwide. Guests are invited to attend art openings, popups and Pisco Sour masterclasses that are hosted by the Coya Collective. Guests are taken on a Peruvian adventure when they walk through the doors of Coya, and will come away with priceless experiences that encompass more than just a delicious meal!

Zuaya Restaurant London

March 20, 2019 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

Zuaya Restaurant London   Zuaya is a botanical oasis, located in the heart of high street Kensington and is inspired by the modern vibrancy of Latin America. It recently opened in the summer of 2018 by the Spanish twins Alberto and Arian Zandi. Zuaya restaurant London is one of the best fusion restaurants in London that harmoniously combines the design flair, ambience and cuisine of the Mediterranean and South America. Zuaya encompasses multiple levels that guests can explore and each space is uniquely representative of the lush and tropical areas of Latin America. Guests can order pre-dinner cocktails at the ground floor cocktail bar, and if the weather permits, the al fresco terrace is also a splendid spot to sip on cocktails. Zuaya’s cocktails pay homage to the natural ingredients, fruits and flavours of Latin America. Its cocktail list includes classic caipirinhas, mojitos and piña coladas, as well as its own signature cocktails. Zuaya playfully crafts its signature cocktails with fresh ingredients, and one of our favourites is the Chicano with pisco, dried fig marmalade, lychee juice, limoncello and fresh lime. Guided by a neon sign with the words “Welcome to the jungle” above the staircase, guests can easily locate the formal dining space in the downstairs area. Similar to the outdoor terrace and bar area, the formal dining space evokes the same feeling of nature and lightness with its fauna covered ceilings and moss-covered living wall. The downstairs area, however, encompasses more romantic and sophisticated details seen in its luxurious crushed pink velvet chairs, velvet curtained private booths and tasselled lamps hanging from the ceilings. In the formal dining area, whimsical design meets elegance and harnesses the perfect ambience for formal dinners and events. Head chef, Francisco Lafee has earned impressive culinary feats, including his former souschef position at the prestigious Barrafina, as well as being an alumnus of El Celler de Can Roca, an iconic restaurant in Girona Spain that was once named the “World’s Best Restaurant”. The expertise brought by Francisco Lafee has elevated the cuisine at Zuaya to the heights of its mesmerising décor seen throughout the outdoor terrace to the basement dining space. Ingredients from the Mediterranean and South America are fused together, creating unlikely yet delicious pairings of sharp and sweet, and rich and fresh flavours in the cuisine. We highly recommend a tortilla starter that fuses a Mexican street food-styled purple taco with ras el hanout Moroccan spices rubbed into succulent and slow-cooked pieces of lamb filling. The tortilla also effortlessly combines the rich flavours of the lamb and spices with sweet smoked cinnamon pineapple, creating the ultimate sweet and savoury pairing. As an ode to the ubiquitous sharing culture prevalent in the Latin American regions, Zuaya recommends that guests order sharing main meals. One of our favourites, that can be shared between large groups, is the lightly charred Ribeye steak, pre-sliced and served on a rustic wooden block. From Thursday to Saturday Zuaya restaurant London becomes even more vibrant and festive with its live DJ performances. Guests can spend an evening after work or enjoy a relaxed Saturday and Sunday swaying to the rhythmic jungle-inspired music whilst sipping on signature Zuaya cocktails. Contrasting the busy Kensington area, Zauya has successfully created an intimate tropical inspired destination for guests. The elegant and refreshing interior design and fusion of cuisines distinguishes Zuaya as one of the highlight restaurants in Kensington. Restaurant Booking

Gaucho Restaurant London

March 20, 2019 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

Gaucho Restaurant London   Gaucho Piccadilly is the flagship restaurant, set in a beautiful townhouse just off Regent Street and encompasses the ultimate Gaucho experience in the West End. Impeccable Argentinian steaks, flavours of Latin America and a perfectly curated drinks lists are all enjoyed in uncompromised elegance in the former home of a Spanish Ambassador. Gaucho has become an iconic name in the UK with sites stretching from Broadgate, Sloane, The O2 to even Manchester and Edinburgh. Gaucho has also experienced international success with its restaurants in the beautiful areas of Dubai, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires. Gaucho Piccadilly boasts a variety of unique spaces that soar over three stories, and are designed with tasteful lighting and monochromatic colour schemes. At ground level, you have a warm and welcoming dining room with an adjoining weather-proof terrace. As you ascend the original sweeping staircase, you will find another spectacular open kitchen, where Gaucho hosts its legendary Electro brunch. Both dining spaces are picturesque luxury seen in the modern black wooden tables, black leather banquet seating and decorative mirrors and cowhides hanging from the walls. On both floors guests can also select from a myriad of gorgeous private rooms, with one inspired by their former Spanish resident. These elegant private rooms, adorned with crystal chandeliers, mirrors and bottles from Gaucho's wine collection, are perfect for hosting a lunch meeting or throwing a spectacular dinner for your esteemed guests. On the top-floor, arguably one of our favourite spots, you will find a secluded cocktail bar and secret courtyard inspired by the festive bar culture of Buenos Aires. This is the perfect hideaway to indulge in a Negroni cocktail and a cigar or to host a canapes event. Starters on the menu include traditional Argentine dishes, and the tuna ceviche marinated in soy, ginger, jalapeno and sesame, as well as classic empanadas are choice recommendations. Gaucho Restaurant London is most famously known for its Argentinian steaks that are specially imported from Argentina and grass fed on the fertile grasslands of Pampas. With this in mind, it will come as no surprise that we recommend that guests select one of Gaucho’s many decedent and luxurious main meat dishes, flavoured with Latin American spices as well as paired with perfectly selected wine options. The service at Gaucho is as elegant and slick as the surroundings. The waiters approach each table with a spectacular steak board and expertly explain each cut of steak before guests order their main meals. Gaucho is as well known for its meat dishes as its variety of Argentinian red wines that are grown in Gaucho’s 80 year old vineyards. Guests can expect an attentive sommelier to bring three to four bottles for tasting and that he would recommend to be paired with each guest’s meat dish. Two house specials that we would recommend to be paired with a glass of red wine include the Churrasco de Lomo, a spiral cut of beef fillet and deeply marinated in garlic, parsley and olive oil; and the Tira de Ancho a ribeye in a spiral cut and slow grilled with delicious chimichurri. Gaucho Restaurant London, as well as the sites in Smithfield, Chancery Lane and Manchester have an Electro Brunch where bottomless food and drinks are on offer. Guests can select classic brunch dishes including eggs benedict, and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Gaucho also offers guests imaginative and Argentine-inspired brunch dishes, with the oven-baked chorizo with egg and mushrooms as one of the highlights. One cannot forget the equally, if not more important, brunch component which is the drinks. Guests can pair their dishes with bottomless Gaucho Bloody Marys spiced with chimichurri, sparkling Argentine wine, cocktails; and fresh juices and smoothies prepared with your choice of ingredients. What sets Gaucho Piccadilly apart is the team; from the first greeting to the final goodbye, they are on hand to ensure that you and guests receive a first-class hospitality experience. Whether you are dining with Gaucho Restaurant London for a quick lunch or a long and languorous dinner, you are invited to bask in some Latin American sunshine. Guests can expect to spend between £25 - £100 a head, and receive a taste of the high-life in this glamorous and chic location in the prime Piccadilly area. Restaurant Booking
