Zuaya is a botanical oasis, located in the heart of high street Kensington and is inspired by the modern vibrancy of Latin America. It recently opened in the summer of 2018 by the Spanish twins Alberto and Arian Zandi.
Zuaya restaurant London is one of the best fusion restaurants in London that harmoniously combines the design flair, ambience and cuisine of the Mediterranean and South America.
Zuaya encompasses multiple levels that guests can explore and each space is uniquely representative of the lush and tropical areas of Latin America. Guests can order pre-dinner cocktails at the ground floor cocktail bar, and if the weather permits, the al fresco terrace is also a splendid spot to sip on cocktails. Zuaya’s cocktails pay homage to the natural ingredients, fruits and flavours of Latin America. Its cocktail list includes classic caipirinhas, mojitos and piña coladas, as well as its own signature cocktails. Zuaya playfully crafts its signature cocktails with fresh ingredients, and one of our favourites is the Chicano with pisco, dried fig marmalade, lychee juice, limoncello and fresh lime.
Guided by a neon sign with the words “Welcome to the jungle” above the staircase, guests can easily locate the formal dining space in the downstairs area. Similar to the outdoor terrace and bar area, the formal dining space evokes the same feeling of nature and lightness with its fauna covered ceilings and moss-covered living wall. The downstairs area, however, encompasses more romantic and sophisticated details seen in its luxurious crushed pink velvet chairs, velvet curtained private booths and tasselled lamps hanging from the ceilings. In the formal dining area, whimsical design meets elegance and harnesses the perfect ambience for formal dinners and events.
Head chef, Francisco Lafee has earned impressive culinary feats, including his former souschef position at the prestigious
Barrafina, as well as being an alumnus of
El Celler de Can Roca, an iconic restaurant in Girona Spain that was once named the “World’s Best Restaurant”. The expertise brought by Francisco Lafee has elevated the cuisine at Zuaya to the heights of its mesmerising décor seen throughout the outdoor terrace to the basement dining space. Ingredients from the Mediterranean and South America are fused together, creating unlikely yet delicious pairings of sharp and sweet, and rich and fresh flavours in the cuisine. We highly recommend a tortilla starter that fuses a Mexican street food-styled purple taco with ras el hanout Moroccan spices rubbed into succulent and slow-cooked pieces of lamb filling. The tortilla also effortlessly combines the rich flavours of the lamb and spices with sweet smoked cinnamon pineapple, creating the ultimate sweet and savoury pairing. As an ode to the ubiquitous sharing culture prevalent in the Latin American regions, Zuaya recommends that guests order sharing main meals. One of our favourites, that can be shared between large groups, is the lightly charred Ribeye steak, pre-sliced and served on a rustic wooden block.
From Thursday to Saturday Zuaya restaurant London becomes even more vibrant and festive with its live DJ performances. Guests can spend an evening after work or enjoy a relaxed Saturday and Sunday swaying to the rhythmic jungle-inspired music whilst sipping on signature Zuaya cocktails.
Contrasting the busy Kensington area, Zauya has successfully created an intimate tropical inspired destination for guests. The elegant and refreshing interior design and fusion of cuisines distinguishes Zuaya as one of the highlight restaurants in Kensington.
