Michel Roux will reintroduce his culinary expertise to London with the opening of Chez Roux Restaurant at The Langham on May 22, 2024. Located in the hotel’s grand Palm Court, the restaurant draws inspiration from Roux’s childhood experiences and the early days of the iconic Le Gavroche. It blends historical British classics with traditional French cooking techniques in refined, contemporary dishes.
Chez Roux aims to provide a nostalgic and innovative dining experience. Its menu reflects the flavors and memories of Roux’s upbringing in rural Kent during the 1960s, where his father, Albert Roux, served as a private chef for the Cazalet family. Such influence is evident in the menu.

Starters at Chez Roux will include Michel Roux’s contemporary take on Welsh Rarebit. It is richly enhanced with stout, Montgomery cheddar, and a touch of mustard and Worcestershire sauce for depth. This starter reflects a perfect balance of hearty British flavors with a French touch.
The main courses are particularly evocative of Roux’s heritage and his father’s influence, featuring dishes like Lamb Chops Reform. Alexis Soyer’s classic 1830s recipe directly inspires this dish. It includes herb-crusted lamb with a side of faggot and reform sauce. Another highlight is the grilled lobster served with garlic butter, fries, and béarnaise sauce, a dish that Roux fondly remembers from his childhood visits to Le Gavroche.
The drink offerings at Chez Roux will complement the rich and complex flavors of the menu, featuring a selection of premium wines, champagnes, and hand-crafted cocktails reflective of the era, such as the Queen’s Dubonnet and the Madeira Cobbler.
Set within The Langham, a venue known for its grandeur and sophistication, Chez Roux will not only pay tribute to Michel Roux’s storied career but also mark a new chapter that connects his rich culinary heritage with modern gastronomic innovation.
