The Bagatelle Restaurant London cannot be faulted for harnessing the far-flung influences of it’s French and Mediterranean cuisine, and bringing them to a joyous collision deep in the centre of Mayfair.
European conscientiousness, that effortless Parisian swagger and the joy of cooking with the ideals of the world’s healthiest diet all ensure that the Bagatelle restaurant — from the breathless second one steps inside — is remarkably, and rightfully, proud of it’s cultural identity and it’s top quality as a dining experience.
At Bagatelle, we found ourselves feasting on the atmosphere before the main course even arrived. Luminescent, lavish lashings of blue and red took up the furnishings while a staggering sea-foam hue vector panning the ceiling left us feeling adrift in the Mediterranean sea in the best, most content way possible. As much as the venue — Bagatelle restaurant London — welcomes the city, it’s also keeping one corner in the clouds, and raising its guests aloft with it.
Finding ourselves seated just off from the glamorous bar at a secluded collection of candlelit dining tables — we were in for an inspiring meal at Bagatelle. The immaculate cream decor only set off the vibrancy of the dishes once they began to arrive — with food swanning over like continents of vivid colour; green pancakes here, and over there, in a savoury island of flavour — the vivid signature dish of Tartare de than Bagatelle. This yellow fin tuna tartat finished with a luminous green avocado salad and lime vinaigrette below golden taro crisps struck the senses before we had even tasted it.
And no wonder, Chef Dale Osborne trained at the Grand Hotel du Cap-Ferret in the south of France; a noteworthy and capable captain, then, to steer the culinary details of such a place to Bagatelle restaurant London. The food was so accomplished we made like the French and treated ourselves — eating there twice. First, partaking in the decadent sweetness of the brunch menu with the taste of Paris chocolate cream, almond and avocado. With no end to the temptation we then went for a sharing option (“To share or not to share” by order– proving that at Bagatelle’s there is no judgement in indulgence) and also enjoyed the Bagatelle pancakes with the pleasing freshness of the organic blueberries offset perfectly by a devilish caramel drizzle. Bagatelle’s even made breakfast into a party for us with the Joie de Vivre Cocktail (lime and pink pepper gin) exacerbating the sweet treats.
Thoroughly convinced, we could not help but return in the evening to try the Pomme frites with black truffle oil and Parmesan, with spectacular samples of good champagne to boot. The hearty, earthy Mediterranean richness of the truffle (also available on pizza) satisfied the palette and filled the stomach. As grounded as we felt from the ample dinner, the atmosphere itself kept the evening soaring — as a centrepiece of live DJ music grew both in energy and sheer vivacious volume throughout dinner — bringing the sparkling possibility of a night in Paris swooning through the room above the diners heads.
At Bagatelle Restaurant London, we found a day out in Mayfair lead us to a French-Mediterranean dream, with food and ambience as delicious as it was dizzying. This high-end restaurant is surely one of the best place to celebrate in London, even if you have nothing particular to celebrate — dining in this little pocket of happiness will leave you cheered enough. Bagatelle is infectious.

The Nobu brand, inspired by the trailblazing Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, has become something of an icon in of itself. Long before Japanese cuisine was rendered chic by the masses, Matsuhisa was manifesting signature wonders from the bounties of each season — combining mature flavours and unprocessed ingredients to make unforgettable recipes. And here we are — long since the resultant restaurant chain has become a playground for the A-listers and VIP diners in glamorous LA and Vegas spots overseas, Nobu Restaurant London has arrived — bringing its mystical exclusivity to Mayfair.
Stationed on the eatery haven of Park Lane — Nobu Restaurant London’s lunch menu made the perfect closing flourish to a day of exploring the gardens and iconic square of it’s relatively verdant inner-city surroundings. We recommend finishing off a central-side walk with the brisk, invigorating spices of Nobu. Wholesome, but light servings of hot and cold dishes left a powerful mark on our taste buds while settling delicately — and we’re delighted to say this means you can, and should, try plenty.
Nobu Restaurant London is made for this city; reverence to the past is all there — with beautifully prepared dishes that with that rare enjoyment and rarer kind of sophistication that comes from inter-generation prep. But new flavours are abundant — perfect for guests or locals of Mayfair –an area constantly unfolding and gaining from diverse influences.
If it’s the full, unrivalled exclusive experience you are after- simply go for the Multi-course Chef’s Omakase Menu, available in Classic or Vegetarian form. But don’t skimp on the miso soup.
The finishing dessert options are as immaculate as the gold-silver ornate finish of Nobu’s expansive restaurant interior (the smatterings of smaller tables make the space feel airy and yet bristling with pockets of chatter). Pearls of Mochi Ice cream melts in the mouth, but the real decadence comes from signature cocktails like the speciality Japanese Pond Martini — a Vodka spliced with the Hokesetsu Sake exclusive to Nobu, served — perhaps not surprisingly but still enchantingly — with a fully fitted pond and koi arrangement at the bottom of our glasses. Much like Nobu Restaurant London as a whole, this last impression has us feeling — as we headed, fully satisfied, home — close to speechless by something equal parts meticulous and fanciful. Nobu is a treat to savour and ruminate on for days — until the next visit.

Colbert, a high-end Chelsea restaurant draws inspiration from the romantic boulevard cafes of the city of Love, Paris. Started by the famous restaurateurs, Corbin and King of the famous Wolseley and Delaunay, its ethos is to offer the Sloane Square neighbourhood a comfortable and luxurious destination for any time of the day.
Colbert restaurant London embodies the rustic spirit of traditional French cafes with its decadent collection of inspired Parisian art, chessboard tiles, plush leather banqueting and pristine white tablecloths. It is framed by the beauty of the Royal Court Theatre. With this grand location, it attracts guests seeking the apex of elegance in the most relaxed of bistro settings.
The menu highlights Parisian cafe items, encompassing something for everyone with their breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, mid-afternoon snacks, evening drinks and dinner selection. On the A La Carte menu guests have their pick of seafood dishes, croquets and sandwiches; salads and larger main dishes. If you are in the mood for a starter we would recommend starting with a portion of Atlantic prawns or a delicious set of Skye Queen scallops. The Parisian influence can be seen in its selection of authentic croquets. One that should not be missed as an easy-going afternoon snack is the £9.75 Croquet Monsieur made with rich gruyere, jambon blanc and bechamel. When it comes to delicious mains, Colbert restaurant London does not disappoint with its array of fish-based meals. These include a smoked Hadddock, poached salmon, sea bass and one of the most lavish lobsters served with dreamy and warm tarragon butter. The Lobster as either a half (£27.75) or large (49.95) portion is a prime choice for a celebration. Colbert also delivers a delicious corn-fed chicken main and succulent flat iron steak. But seeing as though Colbert’s is French-inspired one should definitely try their £18.25 duck confit with flageolet beans to receive the full experience! Guests visiting this neighbourhood rendezvous for a quick morning snack or mid-afternoon tea, should indulge in Colbert’s traditional French sweets and desserts. The salted caramel truffles, madeleines and macaroons could melt away the toughest of problems.
Colbert boasts an impressive selection of wines sourced from the famous Loire Valley. This region is home to the longest flowing river in all of France and as a result has a rich diversity of wines. The region is particularly famous for its Sauvignon Blanc, and reds including its Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. For a taste of the glorious French Loire Valley, we would recommend pairing your mains with one of these fines wines!
Colbert mixes comfort with sophistication in its décor, ambience, service and cuisine. This makes it a desirable restaurant for all lavish and low-key occasions.
