Chiltern Firehouse is a London restaurant focusing on seasonal and healthy eating. With American inspiration on the dishes, decor, and overall accent of the place, this venue makes you feel like you’ve walked into a 1950’s colonial house in the southern United States. The restaurant is part of the five-star Chiltern Firehouse hotel in the Marylebone neighborhood of London. It is a small luxury hotel with cozy rooms resembling the home-stay Forrest Gump’s mom used to run. Modern elements hue over the classic vibe of the place, and the restaurant follows suit on the same design.

The Chiltern Firehouse, both the hotel and restaurant, used to be almost exclusive to Oscar-winning celebrities. Today, it is more accessible but still extremely premier. Inside a building from 1889, you will find a merge of Victorian architecture with modern and vintage furniture and decor, almost resembling a French brasserie. The old firehouse still holds the fireman’s poles and the wall tiles intact. The dining room has black and white tiles on the floors, supporting the light wood furniture and elongated black marble bar top. Burgandy leathered booths surround round tables, and circular lightbulbs dangle from the ceiling with warm lighting. The paneled white walls complement the Victorian environment of the place.

Firstly, have a classic American-style breakfast with eggs and french toast. On the lunch and dinner menu, you can find oysters and pizzas right on top – an excellent way to start a meal. For the starter, you can try the melon soup with basil and fennel or classics like steak and salmon tartare. The mains include house specials like the forty-eight-hour chicken with citrus marinate or the hot-smoked trout salad with fennel, spring greens, apple, and green goddess dressing. The entire menu works to promote healthy eating with fresh flavors and ingredients.

In the dining room, velvet booths and sofas with different colors and patterns illuminate the environment, dancing with the cream walls that turn red under the dim nighttime lighting. The bar has a rich collection of whisky and vintage champagne. You can also order one of the many unique cocktails made with spirits and liquors from boutique luxury brands. Cocktails like the spritzy Only Us carry flavors of sweet wine, Kinobi gin, Suze, jasmine, and peach soda. Others are more bitter, with Cocchi Dopo Teatro vermouth, Campari, and mezcal, a different take on the classic negroni. You can order some food to come with our cocktails, like a Wagyu beef slider with smoked cheese and pickles or Jamon and manchego Spanish croquetas.

A member’s bar that brings back the excitement and luxury of the early 60s, Dispute enchants everyone with its jazz soundtrack, velvet furniture, and mirrors over golden walls. Call it the DRP, like most of its members, and join in the society of cocktail appreciators and stimulating conversationalists.
