The Cocochine restaurant in London opened on March 25th, 2024. It is a collaboration between esteemed chef Larry Jayasekara and art dealer Tim Jefferies. The restaurant takes over four floors at 27 Bruton Place near Berkeley Square. It is named after Tim’s young daughter and promises an exceptional blend of fine dining and art.
Chef Jayasekara, a former National Chef of the Year winner and ex-head chef at Gordon Ramsay’s Petrus, is embarking on his first solo venture with The Cocochine. The restaurant aims to prioritize personal connection and old-school hospitality. It will offer a fully à la carte menu described as ‘a celebration of the joy of eating’.
The Cocochine sources nearly all of its produce from regenerative mixed farmland in Northamptonshire. They ensure a steady supply of fruit, vegetables, seasonal flowers, and livestock directly from the farm. This focus on high-quality, sustainable ingredients reflects Jayasekara’s philosophy. It is influenced by his upbringing in Sri Lanka and his commitment to celebrating great produce from local and international systems.
The Cocochine Menu
Guests can expect a menu inspired by Jayasekara’s extensive travels and fine dining experience, featuring dishes that highlight uncommon ingredients like single-origin chocolate from Suffolk and preservative-free coconut cream from Sri Lanka.
In addition to its culinary offerings, The Cocochine is a celebration of craftsmanship and art, with a design that includes leather-clad handrails and a specially commissioned mosaic floor inspired by Guido Mocafico’s work. The main dining room offers no-shadow lighting for comfort, while the chef’s counter provides an intimate kitchen view. The restaurant also features a wine cellar with classic and rare wines alongside in-house crafted non-alcoholic alternatives.
Reservations must be made over the phone for those interested in experiencing The Cocochine’s blend of fine dining and artistry. For the first three months, the Cocochine will operate Monday through Saturday, with lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and dinner from 18:00 to 21:45, before adjusting to a Tuesday through Saturday-schedule.
