Porte Noire, the newly opened stylish wine bar and restaurant from Idris Elba and David Faber has now opened in London. This venture first came about after Idris and David visited the historical and significant Sanger viticulturally school in Champagne, France, in 2018.
Located in the stunning Gasholders building, the fabulous building that sits inside the iconic Victorian gasholder frames, this wine cellar and restaurant is inspired by the wine bars of central Europe. A place to relax with good friends and great wine.
Porte Noire boasts one of the largest fine wine tasting rooms in London, and the selection is endless with a super huge collection of around 800 wines, which means there definitely is wine for everyone and all occasions. The wine menu ranges from the very rare to much more accessible wines. The perfect location to try some wines you have never heard of.
Walk inside, and experience the luxurious space, with a softly lit and unexpectedly cosy feel. Porte Noire is a 70-seater wine bar, dining room, and outdoor space overlooking the stunning canal, and not forgetting the wine shop to buy any of the lovely wines you enjoyed or will savor to enjoy.
Quality is one of the piers the restaurant strives by with their premium products that can be experienced. We love the community efforts Porte Noire’s believes in to bring people together through a love of wine.
Porte Noire will have both a bar and restaurant. For food, the menu is just as good as the wine selection. The highly recommended Oeuf Meurette (a Burgundian dish of poached eggs in a red wine sauce) and Slow cooked beef cheek, pommes purée, leek persillade are both delicious dishes to try. The wines naturally will be a big draw, with 800 available and they say they’ll have “one of the largest fine wine tasting rooms in London”. We ordered the selection of artisanal cheese and charcuterie – the perfect accompaniment to the huge selection of wine.
Porte Noire is built on the foundation of great storytelling that encourages to bring people together for all the celebrations, big or small.
“I wanted to put together a special collection of wines with stories I think needed to be told. I’ve always understood the importance of story and these two additions to Porte Noire are great conversation starters.”
– Idris Elba

He’s not the type to humble brag with his hand earnestly resting on his chest, telling you ‘how grateful and humbled’ he is in that way that makes you cringe. No, […]

The rub is that you must be a member to even order a starter, and it catered for the Olympics, US presidents and some of the most powerful people […]
