Oficina 00 Restaurant London Review: Handmade Pasta and Authentic Italian Flavors

Oficina 00 restaurant in London, an artisanal pasta venue, has established itself in the city’s dining scene with locations in Old Street, Fitzrovia, and the newly opened Covent Garden branch. Founded by childhood friends Elia Sebregondi and Enzo Mirto, both hailing from Naples, the restaurant’s name reflects their culinary philosophy: “Officina” means “workshop” in Italian, and “00” denotes the finest grade of flour used in pasta making.

Each Officina 00 location blends modern design with traditional Italian elements. The interiors feature open kitchens, allowing diners to observe the pasta-making process—a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to craftsmanship. Comfortable leather seating, wooden accents, and ample natural light create a relaxed dining environment. The Covent Garden branch, situated at 8-10 Dryden Street, continues this aesthetic, providing a cosy space that complements the neighbourhood.

A distinctive aspect of Officina 00 is its dedication to fresh, handcrafted pasta. Diners can witness the pasta-making process firsthand, enhancing the dining experience with a sense of authenticity and connection to Italian culinary traditions. The restaurant also offers pasta-making workshops, inviting guests to immerse themselves in pasta creation. These workshops cater to various skill levels and provide a hands-on approach to learning traditional techniques.

Oficina 00 Restaurant London Menu

Officina 00’s menu showcases a variety of Italian dishes, with a particular emphasis on pasta. The offerings are curated to highlight regional recipes, utilizing innovative cooking techniques and the freshest locally sourced ingredients. The menu is divided into sections: Breads, Snacks, Starters, Pasta, and Desserts.

Find sourdough bread served with whipped truffle Parmigiano butter. Sourdough Focaccia comes topped with datterino tomatoes, black olives, and oregano. A cacio e pepe-inspired fried raviollo offers a crispy exterior with a creamy, peppery filling. The Panko Lasagna, a unique twist on traditional lasagna, features truffle, aged provolone, and aioli, providing a rich and indulgent flavor profile. And there are only the snacks.

For starters, a layered aubergine parmigiana comes with basil oil and fonduta. The Buffalo Burrata, paired with tomato tartare, anchovy mayo, and peashoots, balances creaminess with fresh and savoury notes.

For the pasta, here are some of the highlights:

  • Raviolo Bergese: Featuring egg yolk, wild mushrooms, and pecorino romano.
  • Caserecce: Served with pistachio pesto, yuzukoshu, and mint
  • Curly Pappardelle: Accompanied by beef short rib ragù, meatballs, and ricotta.

The Lemon Delizia dessert combines limoncello custard with pistachio crumble, and the Crunchy Tiramisu Corretto is a modern take on the classic tiramisu, featuring orange zest and Cointreau.
