Luna Wine Bar in London, set to open in spring 2025, is the latest venture from restaurateur Jay Patel and chef Matt Beardmore, the team behind the acclaimed Legare. Located on Shad Thames, directly opposite Legare, Luna offers wine enthusiasts and food lovers a cosy and intimate setting.
The interior of Luna is designed to exude warmth and comfort, featuring wood-panelled walls and candlelit tables. With seating for 28 guests inside and an additional 6-8 seats on a riverside terrace, patrons can enjoy views of the Thames and Tower Bridge, especially during the warmer months. Crafted by furniture designer Herb Palmer, the design incorporates reclaimed Moroccan zellige tiles and nostalgic artwork, blending historical elements with modern aesthetics.
Luna Wine Bar will become a cherished addition to the Shad Thames area. It offers a harmonious blend of thoughtfully selected wines and a menu designed to complement them. Its intimate ambience, commitment to quality, and prime riverside location make it an ideal destination for those seeking a relaxed dining experience.
Luna Bar London Menu
Luna’s menu, curated by executive chef Matt Beardmore, focuses on simple yet flavorful dishes that pair well with the wine selection. While the entire menu is still under development, anticipated offerings include:
- Freshly Shucked Oysters: Served over ice, these oysters provide a briny and refreshing start to the meal.
- Crudos and Carpaccios: Sliced to order, these dishes highlight the freshness and quality of the ingredients.
- French Fries: Straight from the fryer, these crispy fries offer a comforting and satisfying side.
The emphasis is on high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients, making the menu shine and evolve with the seasons.
Wine Selection
True to its name, Luna celebrates biodynamic wines, acknowledging the lunar cycles integral to biodynamic winemaking. The wine list features a mix of classic producers and those employing ethical farming practices. Notable selections include wines from Burgundy winemaker Athénaïs de Béru, known for her exceptional offerings. The goal is to provide a diverse range of wines catering to connoisseurs and casual drinkers.
