Daka Daka Restaurant London Review: Modern Georgian Dining in Mayfair

December 22, 2025

Walking into Daka Daka restaurant felt like arriving at a hidden dimension of London dining—ancient in spirit, boldly modern in execution. Nestled in Mayfair, this new Georgian restaurant opens its doors with a clear mission: to bring the fire-lit, story-rich cuisine of Georgia into the city. The space has witnessed many incarnations, but this time the vision is distinct and original.

Daka Daka is the debut London project from Berkeley Square Hospitality. It was founded by Giorgi Mindiashvili and Mitz Vora, two hospitality creatives who cut their teeth on projects ranging from design-led cafés to full-scale restaurant launches. They chose this Mayfair address—previously hosting rotating residencies—to establish a permanent home for Georgian food in the UK capital. Their ethos: treat Georgian culinary traditions—wood-fire, fermentation, native wines—with the same reverence as any storied cuisine, yet present it with a London-smart confidence.

Upstairs and down, the two-floor venue spans a bar, dining room, and private-event space. Inside, you find a design that nods to Georgian heritage without slipping into cliché. Rich woods, blackened metal accents, folkloric patterns alongside crisp modern lighting. The atmosphere is lively and warm—fire and flame dominate not just the kitchen but the mood as well. You sit near the grill, can feel the embers, can smell the smoke, and it sets the tone. This isn’t a whisper, it’s a confident statement. Service is friendly, timely, and attuned to that balance of tradition and trend.

DakaDaka Restaurant London Menu

Daka Daka’s menu centres on open-fire cooking, Georgian ingredients, and British seasonal produce. You’ll perhaps start with a wood-smoked aubergine, charred over coal, dressed with amber honey from Guria. Then, a highlight dish: flame-seared pork belly, glazed with tkemali berry sauce, and served with Georgian walnut purée. Mains include grilled sea bream fillet on Georgian cornmeal polenta, or an 8-hour slow-roasted free-range duck leg cooked over vine-wood embers. Pair with one of 100 natural Georgian wines curated by award-winning sommelier Honey Spencer, alongside Georgian beers and ChaCha-inspired cocktails. For dessert: a wild-flower honey panna cotta topped with candied hazelnut and a splash of Georgian chacha brandy. Every dish carries the imprint of fire, soil, and story.

Daka Daka delivers something rare in London: a cuisine that is heritage-rich and contemporary. The cooking has grit and flavour, the drinks list has depth, and the setting captures the luxury of Mayfair while infusing warmth and character.
