Bund Bar London Review: Shanghai-Era Glamour & Rooftop Cocktails over Mayfair

Stepping into Bund Bar in London feels like boarding a 1930s Shanghai express — except the train is now the elevator taking you to the 28th floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane. As the doors open, the city’s rush fades. The space unfolds: glowing lights, velvet, and a skyline stretching beyond Hyde Park.

Bund Lounge opened in summer 2025 as part of the rooftop reinvention of the Hilton on Park Lane. It is crafted by the team behind the group’s wider Asian-inspired concepts, framed as a lounge bar complementing the neighbouring main restaurant. The idea: bring a slice of Shanghai’s golden age to London’s skyline, offering an escape high above the city. The bar’s name nods to the legendary waterfront of Shanghai — a hint at the ambition with which this space enters Mayfair’s nightlife.

Walking in, you’re met with Art Deco geometry, marble surfaces, mirrored walls, and tones of deep teal and warm brass. Velvet banquettes invite lingering. The indoor lounge flows into a terrace where the London skyline unfolds in panoramic view. In summer, golden-hour cocktails turn into neon-lit evenings. DJs weave a gentle soundtrack — just enough to stir the mood, never to overwhelm conversation. The energy is elegant: polished, intimate, and quietly magnetic.

Bund Bar Restaurant London Menu

Bund’s menu leans on sharing, light bites, and cocktails with character. The kitchen draws on the flavours of its sister restaurant next door — Asian-inspired small plates built for post-cocktail grazing. Think yellowtail carpaccio with black truffle, Cantonese roast duck topped with foie gras and caviar, or delicate pieces of sushi and dim sum. Each plate crafted to complement the drinks.

The cocktail list is a showpiece: the signature “Lunar Antipodes” menu. Each of the twelve drinks is inspired by a sign from the Chinese zodiac — pairing opposing traits in flavour and presentation. Standout drinks include the “Monkey,” with cachaça, banana, cacao, coconut and blue foam, and the “Goat,” built around Japanese gin, pandan, white cacao liqueur and sparkling wine. Non-alcoholic versions are available too — a thoughtful touch for those skipping spirits. These drinks are playful, creative, and elevated beyond the usual rooftop fare.

Bund Lounge works because it knows exactly what it is — a rooftop indulgence that blends architecture, mood, drinks, and dining into one seamless experience. The design feels cinematic, the drinks feel considered, and the food feels light but satisfying. It isn’t trying to outshine the stars. Instead, it layers on subtle luxuries: the hum of conversation, the glow of the skyline, the taste of something unexpected.
