Standing along the streets of Notting Hill, Chez Lui restaurant in London feels more like a warmly lit Parisian hideaway—right at home among the area’s charm. This debut venture from La Bistrot Collection by the Bagatelle Group blends timeless French spirit with West London sophistication, and its magic unfolds the moment you step inside.
Chez Lui’s interiors are a masterclass in understated elegance. They are done in collaboration with designer Sam Baron (famed for his work with Dior Maison and Diptyque). Aubergine velvet banquettes, vintage brass mirrors, soft candlelight, and curated curios evoke a Parisian salon—from an era when meals were savoured, not rushed. Downstairs, you’ll discover a moody lounge—the kind of intimate nook that transitions from after-dinner drinks to whispered confidences.
The aesthetic is romantic without being fussy—a combination of glamour and warmth. The flickering single candle on each marble table and the burgundy sofas make for an ideal backdrop. The downstairs bar adds another layer of intimacy, especially when the lighting dims and the mood turns velvety.
Chez Lui is quietly spectacular. It doesn’t shout “opening of the year”—instead, it invites you into something more precious: a place that feels like a Parisian friend’s living room, dressed in its best but never fussy.
Chez Lui Restaurant London Menu
Corporate Chef Rocco Seminara, trained under Alain Ducasse and aided by stars Manon Santini (pastry) and Pablo Segovia (development), leads the kitchen. The menu takes familiar French dishes and gives them thoughtful, contemporary flourishes.
Start with fried purple artichokes with celery pesto and trout‑roe vinaigrette—crunchy, savory, and refined. The citrus sea bass carpaccio is another refreshing opener that hits just the right notes. For signature comfort, try the roast chicken, brined, slow-cooked, and finished with golden jus and roast potatoes. This dish is irresistibly succulent and humble in the best way.
The Ravioles del Plin—tiny pockets of Castelmagno cheese in a seasonal truffle sauce—are silky, indulgent, and memorable. For a taste closer to home, the Goujonettes de lieu (Chez Lui’s elevated fish & chips) deliver crisp base, flaky fish, and spicy tartare—classic, done right.
Wines and cocktails lean into the French ethos too: expect Sancerre, Champagne, and clever takes like a trio of Negroni variations or a rose-accented Paloma.

You’d expect a Michelin-starred chef with his CV to be all puffed up with self-importance, but not Sameer. He’s not the type to humble brag with his hand earnestly resting on his chest, telling you ‘how grateful and humbled’ he is in that way that makes you cringe. No, […]

Mosimann’s – A Look Inside London’s Famous Members Restaurant

When one utters “Darling… I’m just popping in for a spot of lunch at a luxurious dining restaurant in Belgravia that catered to both Harry and William’s wedding; it has John Major, John Cleese and a long list of actors, writers, and politicians as regulars too. The rub is that you must be a member to even order a starter, and it catered for the Olympics, US presidents and some of the most powerful people […]
