Whitcomb’s, restaurant in London, located in the heart of the West End, is a French Mediterranean inspired cuisine that is simple yet elegant. The menu is prepared using carefully selected quality and seasonal ingredients. Expect to be captured by tradition and modernity.
Whitcomb’s is set on a quiet corner on a very easily to find Whitcomb Street in West London. We recommend to make a reservation on the terrace that is so wonderful while overlooking the life of Leicester Square, making it a perfect place for alfresco dining in London.
The restaurant is open all day, starting from breakfast, prix fix lunch, pre- and post-theatre and à la carte dining. You will notice the menus express the core of contemporary French cooking, with influences from surrounding Mediterranean flavours and a sought-after wine list to go with your dining experience.
We love that the dishes are all born out of a passion for premium grade ingredients found in the French culinary tradition, this is how French cuisine should be and will take you right back to France. The restaurant works closely with local suppliers, which results in the produce being of a high quality. The meat selection is hand-picked at no level we have seen before, this is specially reserved for Whitcomb’s and is thus unavailable anywhere else in the United Kingdom.
Of course, you cannot go to a French restaurant without eating the famous Escargots – Baked snails, white wine, garlic and n’duja lemon butter, served with warm artisan French baguette Fromage au four. And for the serious cheese lovers a must try is the baked Gruyère, Emmental, Cognac, crispy pancetta and Dijon mustard, served in a skillet with warm artisan French baguette. Do I need to say more?
Recommended mains were the Poussin au citron – Paprika-roasted whole baby chicken with chilli & lemon garlic butter and chives, and the Agneau aux herbes – Herb-crusted French trim lamb cutlets.
The dessert menu is just amazing and took us a while to decide what to order. We ordered the Toast Français au Grand Marnier – Grand Marnier French toast with clementine confit and black pepper toffee butter and the classic Tarte Tatin – Pear and apple tarte Tatin with warm caramel and Tahitian vanilla ice cream.
Now the wine list is a reserve wine list that explores a desired collection of wineries from across the world, and of course paying special tribute to the terroirs of France, all thanks to the restaurant’s team of sommeliers who have curated this exceptional wine list. Expect to a various selection by region, featuring some of the greatest vintages of Bordeaux. If you really want to splurge, a definite must try are the fine wines by Coravin, including Tignanello and Puligny-Montrachet.

He’s not the type to humble brag with his hand earnestly resting on his chest, telling you ‘how grateful and humbled’ he is in that way that makes you cringe. No, […]

The rub is that you must be a member to even order a starter, and it catered for the Olympics, US presidents and some of the most powerful people […]
