Sexy Fish opened its doors in October 2015 in high-end Berkeley Square; Mayfair. The restaurant , bar and private function was designed by Martin Brdnuzki and hosts an Asian-inspired cuisine with a focus on Japanese sushi, sashimi, tiradito, tempura and robota. The finest food is served daily and a late night bar stocking the largest whisky collection worldwide.(400 bottles and counting!)
The decor within sexy fish compares to walking into a restaurant in Las Vegas with so much glamour its hard to know where to look, The bars are designed with glazed lava stone, the furniture custom made with a cool raspberry-lemonade tone and polished nickel for wall lights and bar lamps. Works crafted together by Frank Gehry and conceptual artist Damien Hirst dazzle from floor to-ceiling; quite literally in the Coral Reef room as tanks with the most exotic fish are exhibited. A 1ft crocodile slithers its way across the wall dominating itself above the the high banquette diners, a beautiful blue wall plaque of mermaids and Frank’s silver floating Fish.
When it come to the food Sexy fish continues to uphold its reputation with Head Chef Bjorn Weissgerber bringing us the finest Asian Cuisine. Earning his first Michelin star at only the age of 27 and training at some of the world’s most prestigious kitchens. Thomas Keller’s French Laundry restaurant in California being just one. He never fails to produce an array of masterpieces.
A few delicatessens recommended by the chef himself include the watermelon and crispy duck salad served with mitzuna leaves, mint and tarragon and seasoned with a refreshing dressing of olive oil. Another dish is the beef tenderloin seasoned with black pepper and smoked onions ; served with a soy and mirin sauce. Deserts are always a hot topic of the menu and with warm chocolate fondant and coconut cake with sorbet; it’s not an easy one to miss out on.
But always saving the best for last we have the bar. Sexy fish blends its most premium alcohols to craft together the finest cocktails to sip on whilst enjoying your food. The favourites include ‘The Big Four’ which combines Milan (Campari), New York (Hudson Manhattan Rye), London (Beefeater Crown Jewel Gin) and Paris (Dubonnet.) The four flavours are based on a Negroni and are not for the faint hearted. The Sexy Fish Champagne Cocktail has base of classic Martell Cordon Bleu cognac topped up Gyejacquot Champagne with a dash of Merlet peach liqueur, rosemary bitters, a sugar cuba and Angostura bitters. Sexy Fish lager has also been specially brewed to match your taste buds with the seafood on the menu.
With faces such as Rita Ora, Kate Moss and Goldie Hawn Sexy Fish’s reputation only gets bigger. The ideal restaurant if you’re looking to impress.
