Meraki Restaurant London

June 24, 2019 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

Meraki Restaurant London

Meraki is a modern Greek restaurant inspired by the lifestyle of the Aegen Islands. It is located in the heart of Fitzrovia and is a high-end dining destination created by Peter Waney. He has championed the iconic Zuma restaurant in Knightsbrdige, The Arts Club on Dover Street and the chic Roka on Charlotte Street. Meraki restaurant London is celebrated for offering some of London’s finest Mediterranean dishes in front of a backdrop of warm hospitality that mirrors the generosity of the Mediterranean culture.

Meraki effortlessly combines authentic Greek style with a cosmopolitan flare. This unusual mix is best represented in its combination of pristine, modern white ceilings and rustic unvarnished wooden floors. The beauty of natural Greece is also peppered throughout the restaurant with pops of greenery. A taste of the Greek sunshine is also reflected in its floor-to-ceiling windows and two al fresco terraces.

Meraki is the Greek word for taste and this is indicative of its brilliant menu. It showcases the finest quality Mediterranean ingredients. The kitchen is open-plan and complements the simplicity and elegance of the restaurant design. Chef Athinagoras Kostakos helms the kitchen and his reputation precedes him with culinary experiences from the award-winning Bill and Coo and Scorpios in Mykonos. The all day menu encompasses a delicious range of cold mezzes, salads, pasta dishes and chargrilled meats and fish. While waiting for your mains, share a trio of taramosalata, Greek style hummus and the grilled aubergine garnished with lemon, tahini and chili. These are best served with crispy and warm pita bread. Meraki restaurant London also has a wide selection of raw and healthy main meals. The Mediterranean prawn carpaccio made with tomato, basil, lime and chilly is a delightful mix of fresh yet filling ingredients. The £12.50 sea bass tartare flavoured with lemon oil dressing and herring Caviar is an excellent choice for guests that desire a starter or a light main meal. Guests cannot go wrong with selecting one of Meraki’s signature dishes. One of our favourites is the beef fillet prepared in an authentic Mediterranean style on a kebab with avocado tzatziki and broccoli stems. With its Mediterranean cultural inspiration, sharing plates are the ideal dishes to try, especially with big groups sharing a celebration. The whole lobster prepared with orzo pasta is a divine choice to share between two people. The 1.2 KG slow cooked leg of lamb is excellent for a group of three people. It comes with lemon sauce and wild oregano and is fashioned as the ‘celebration leg of lamb’. With their sharing mains, its always a good idea to order a selection of sides to complete your meal. Fantastic options include their green beans with vinegar and herbs, and their burnt cauliflower.

By day Meraki restaurant London offers a relaxed and sophisticated dining space and by night it transforms into an amazing space to indulge in glamorous cocktails, great music and superb company. The Meraki bar exudes an electric ambience with its chic bohemian style that combines modern glamour with a tropical feel. The bar space comprises two floors; the first is the bar lounge area and the second is the mezze and private VIP lounge. Both floors buzz over the weekend with resident DJs and some of the best cocktails made with exquisite and high-end ingredients and spirits. Some of our favourites include the £12 Black Swan. It is deep and dramatic with its honey-black tea flavours, passionfruit and lychee juice and stoli premium vodka. Another cocktail with a kick is the £12 Paloma. It is made with Cenote Blanco Tequila which is then offset with sweeter notes of pink grapefruit soda. For guests looking for sweet and botanical cocktails, the La Vida Loca made with Tanqueray No10 gin is a wonderful choice. It is reminiscent of a summery garden with its hibiscus, cranberry and fresh basil flavours.

Meraki does it all – it transports guests to the tropical paradise of Greece with its fare, design and ambience. By night it further emulates the festivity of the Greek islands with its wonderful cocktail selection, rhythmic music and chic lounge spaces. Meraki restaurant London is a gem in the thriving Fitzrovia area, and is the perfect dining destination for any occasion.

Sushi Samba Restaurant London

June 14, 2019 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

Sushi Samba Restaurant London

Located on the 38th and 39th floors of the Heron Tower is Sushi Samba City. It is a natural oasis iconic for its intercontinental fusion of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine. Sushi Samba restaurant London boasts the highest outdoor dining terrace in Europe and this symbolises its earth-to-sky motif. With its floor-to-ceiling windows, guests experience unparalleled 360 degree city views. A natural and relaxed ambience is also evoked from its bamboo latticed ceiling draped in hanging lights and living plants and flowers.

Sushi Samba has two outposts in London including its City and Covent Garden restaurants, as well as international sites in Miami, Las Vegas and Amsterdam. Its success stems from its unique blend of cuisines and interiors. The interiors are evocative of Brazil’s annual Carnaval celebration. Guests can expect to walk into a space brightly lit with its signature colours of mango, red, lime and gold. Each of the colours work together to create a uniquely rose tinted glow that transitions from day into night.

Sushi Samba City offers a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian culture and cuisine to be reminiscent of bustling cities like Sao Paulo where the assimilation of these cultures blossom. They have a variety of menus including their all day, gluten, vegan, Taste of Samba, and Samba set. The Taste of Samba is available for £82 per person and encompasses signature dishes. The all day menu includes starters of miso soup, and green bean tempura. Small plates can also be ordered as starters or as mains to be shared between a group. Our favourites included the shrimp tempura which is elevated with its snap pea julienne, spicy mayo and black truffle vinaigrette. Crispy taquitos are also an excellent small plate to share between two people. One of our favourites was the yellowtail made with avocado and roasted corn miso. They also have a raw selection which champions their Japanese influence. Their £15 Tuna dish is delicious and comes with pomegranate, maiz morado, wasabi peas and basil. Sushi Samba restaurant London also has a robata section which incorporates fresh ingredients prepared with their traditional Japanese charcoal grill. These dishes can be served as small plates or as Peruvian skewers. Sushi Samba also has a meat section where a delicious £19 lamb chop served with red miso and lime is a highlight. Large plates of rib-eye are also an excellent choice. The perfect dish for a big celebration is the £129 Japanese wagyu ishiyaki. It requires 48 hours notice and is one of the highest quality Kobe beefs extravagantly served from a steaming hot stone with dipping sauces and pickled plums.

The sushi bar is the focal point of Sushi Samba and crafts some of London’s most creative and delicious cocktails. We recommend starting with their £14 Samba Sour which is their modern twist on a traditional Pisco Sour. What makes this special is that it also incorporates a Japanese influence with its shaken citrus and egg whites. Another must-try is their £13 Kaffirinha. This cocktail is a twist on a Brazilian Classic with its fragant kaffir lime leaves infused with Velho Barreiro cachaca, lime and sugar. If cocktails do not tickle your fancy, Sushi Samba restaurant London also has an extensive wine and sake list to enjoy whilst soaking up either the sun or stars on their two outside terraces.

Sushi Samba is one of the best fusion restaurants in the City. It does not only combine Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine effortlessly, but also illustrates this integration in its design, music and culture. It exudes the utmost sophistication and class and should be counted on as a top choice for any celebration.

No.5 Social Restaurant London

June 14, 2019 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

No.5 Social Restaurant London

No.5 Social is Jason Atherton’s newest restaurant that has replaced his Little Social located in the heart of Mayfair. It can be found across the street from Atherton’s flagship Pollen Street Social restaurant. The interior designed by Rosendale Design replaces the dark wood interiors and antiquity of Little Social with lighter and more modern interiors. No.5 Social restaurant London is warm and comfortable with its neutral colour palette of earth tones, pale pinks and deep blues. Lighting is subtle; and sleek timber panels and chic duck egg fabric banquettes imbue the space with a feeling of ease and simplistic elegance.

Their menu is devised by head Chef, Kostas Papathanasiou. His impressive culinary background includes experiences at The Fat Duck restaurant in Bray, and The Ledbury in Notting Hill. Preceding No.5 Social he worked alongside Dale Bainbridge as Senior Sous Chef at Pollen Street Social. No.5 Social’s menu moves away from French cuisine of Little Social and instead focus on celebrating seasonal British ingredients and produce. The menu comprises a variety of options for guests with different needs, and this includes vegetarian as well as vegan menus. The Prix Fixe lunch menu is also ideal for guests looking for a lunch spot for client meetings. It is a fixed menu highlighting some of No.5 Social’s favourite dishes; and is reasonably priced at £19.50 for two courses or £24.50 for three courses. On the A La Carte menu, we suggest starting with a £14.50 beef tartare sourced from Lake District. This is simply delicious and freshly prepared with caramelised onion jam and foie gras sauce. Another fantastic choice is the £13.50 Cornish mussels made with heritage green asparagus and bonito. For mains, guests can select a fish dish including a poached halibut and roasted Cornish cod; or a simply delicious roasted chicken dish. Guests cannot go wrong with one of their meat dishes, and one of our favourites was the £35 Galloway rib-eye steak. It is the the epitome of a succulent meat dish as it is aged for 28 days to allow for as much flavour as possible. It also comes with crisp chips and a light mixed salad. No.5 Social restaurant London also has a plethora of sides to share between groups. Their triple cooked chips and warm green kale are two great additions to any meal.

Guests can dive straight into an exquisite wine list created by The Social Company’s Excecutive Sommelier Laure Patry. The wines encompass the very best of both English and international selections. No.5 Social also has a lavish cocktail list with each focusing on a distinct flavour. Guests can choose from their Rhuburb, Cucumber through to Cherry and Strawberry cocktails. Cocktails are reasonably priced between £12 – £13 and are all infused with light, flavourful and botanical ingredients. One of favourites was the Apricot cocktail made with peach botanical spirit, kumquat, apricot puree and citrus.

No.5 Social restaurant London also accommodates for guests that desire more intimate dining settings with its Private Room and its exclusive hire option with a capacity of sixty. Its private dining is as luxurious as the rest of the restaurant and offers its own sample dining menu for £80 per person.

It prides itself on delivering a convivial and warm ambience whilst retaining its simplicity and elegance in its stylish interiors. Although we have lost Little Social, No.5 Social is a wonderful addition to the Mayfair restaurant scene that is forecasted to deliver the same level of quality and hospitality with its new contemporary space and British cuisine.
