Taking you up 37 levels of Novotel Hotel in Canary Wharf lies the Bokan restaurant. Sitting over three floors gives you the best views of London’s most iconic skylines and being higher then any restaurant within The Shard just begins to show you what you’re in for. The restauant offers view from all angles; (including the toilets) starting from sunrise to sunset.
The design of Bokan blends in with its location of Canary Wharf with it showcasing interior from the docks by using industrial material and beguiling. There is a chic-metal designed staircase to spiral you up three floors with other surroundings consisting of rustic timbers, vintage rugs and cushioned lounge areas. This is all complimented with golden lighting to create a glam relaxed atmosphere along with the accessory lighting of the outside and its jaw-dropping views.
Head Chef Aurelie Altemaire; former head chef of Michelin-star L’atelier de Joel Robuchon takes European cuisine and adds ancient and adopted British ingredients hand picked from the finest suppliers. The menu consists of small and large lates giving you the option to share or if you’re hungry the larger plate for just ‘moi.’ These all come with an arange of sides and other grilled options for you to lay your hands on. There is also a separate Charcuterie Menu with a smaller selection of the finest cheeses, meats and vegetables. The 65- cover restaurant’s menu includes locally-sourced charcuterie, Rhug estate grass fed lamb cutlets, Aberdeen Angus Steak and slow smoked Blythburgh Pork Belly. Returning is a definite just so you’re able to try it all!
Cocktails are whipped up by Danilp Tesigni who previously worked at one of Myafair’s most-loved gin parlours; Mr Fogg’s. His cocktails take influence from the docklands of Canary wharf incorporating the history behind it all such as the East and West India Docks, Gwilt’s Warehouse and even unique sharing vessels inspired by the Blackwell levels. The wine list is carefully put together to compliment the food and with experts on hand to advice you it’s impossible to go wrong. If you have a passion for wine be prepared to be taken on an experience with each wine uncovering their own story. Craft Beers are also available.
On the 38th floor you can be whisked away to the cocktail bar where the atmosphere provides it for the perfect night time drinks or the start of a very late one. With a level higher of a view the 39th floor on the top terrace is the place to be for snug evenings with blankets and an incredible sunset dropping over the bustle of London. Also home to the highest specialist gin bar in London. The settings are perfect for any evening whether it be a gathering with friends or a relaxed end to a day.
