Quaglinos Restaurant London

February 20, 2017 Capital A List - Celebrity club news

Quaglinos

Since 1929 Quaglinos has done nothing but leave its audience forever wanting more and making it one of London’s most exclusive , highly ranked dining destinations. Being the ‘place to be’ in St James Giovanni Quaglino held to host to a venue that aspired nothing but glamour, glitz and even royalty! His charm and charisma intertwined with his love for food and good company created an atmosphere that couldn’t be created anywhere else making it the prime location for the elite of society. Adding to the guestlist of 50’s was Princess Margaret who had a permanently reserved table and even The Queen paid a visit with husband Prince Phillip in 1956.

Quaglinos name never died and after re-launching in 2014 by D&D saw Prince Harry walk through the doors proving that nothing had changed and placing it top as one of St James prime dining places. As the scandal and shenanigans of the old Quaglino’s faded away the newly refurbished one still contributes all the aspects of the art-dec splendure with bright gold lighting , sparkling drapes and with the grand staircase styling through the centre it places you straight back to the ages of Jazz.

Quaglinos runs by the motto of ‘Everyone has a Quaglino’s story.’ The cocktail menu sets the story behind the motto with 20 carefully crafted signature cocktails each with a different story to tell from the elite that walked through the door to the scandals that took place within the restaurant. His signature named cocktail ‘The Q Clock’ represents himself. It consists of Tanqueray NO.Ten gin, Cointreau Noir and Belsazar white Vermouth which combined together creates a deep floral taste garnished with your personal flavour of Vapour. The drink runs down a spiral tube into a diamond shaped glass on top of a sundial representing Quaglino’s run through the years  of his life. 1927 represents ‘The Cheating wife’ consisting of London N1 infused with strawberries and marshmallow. Beetroot cooked on Tio Pepe, white raspberry infused antica formula and sour cherry. Rumour has it Quaglino’s other half got a little bit too cosy to his business partner ! The menu sees us all the way through to ‘The Time Machine’ celebrating nearly 100 years of Quaglino’s with ingredients consisting of mandarin infused Stolichnaya Elit, manzanilla, peach liqueur, grapefruit bitters and ancient forest frog.

The ‘Q brunch’ on Saturdays hosts bottomless prosecco and your favourite brunch selections including omelette Arnold Bennett or scrambled eggs with lobster and a spinach muffin. Or perhaps the evening menu with dishes such as hand-chopped venison tartare with smoked oil or Dover sole meuniere and a duck egg bubble and squeak with charred leek. Live music fills the restaurant  from Tuesday to Saturday curing any weekday blues and leaving Friday and Saturdays to party all the way until 3am! Image source
