Santo Remedio Casona & Cantina restaurant in London is a Mexican dining concept by Edson and Natalie Diaz-Fuentes. It has made its mark on the city’s restaurant scene since its inception in 2016. The brand’s third and latest venture, Santo Remedio Casona y Cantina, opened in Marylebone in 2024. It brought the flavours of regional Mexican cuisine to this upscale neighbourhood. This restaurant builds on the couple’s passion for showcasing the diverse culinary traditions of their homeland while providing an elegant yet approachable dining experience.
The concept behind Casona y Cantina is deeply rooted in Edson’s Mexican heritage and inspired by the grand colonial houses of Mexico City’s Colonia Roma, Juarez, and Condesa neighbourhoods. These influences are reflected not only in the menu but also in the design of the space. Each element tells a story of Mexican culture and tradition, from the handmade tiles imported from Michoacán to the photographs Edson took during his travels. The name “Casona y Cantina” nods to the dual nature of the venue—a place for leisurely dining and a lively cantina experience.
The two-story restaurant can accommodate 85 guests. It offers an intimate dining room and a cantina bar perfect for casual evenings or pre-dinner drinks. The cantina, a focal point of the venue, has an extensive selection of tequilas and mezcals.
For special occasions, Santo Remedio Casona & Cantina provides private dining options, including the intimate Kite Room for up to eight guests and the spacious Salón Santo, complete with a bar, accommodating up to 50 guests. Whether you’re there to explore traditional dishes, enjoy handcrafted cocktails, or host a private gathering, Santo Remedio Casona y Cantina delivers a slice of Mexico in London.

He’s not the type to humble brag with his hand earnestly resting on his chest, telling you ‘how grateful and humbled’ he is in that way that makes you cringe. No, […]
